Bike Product Photography
Swift Industries
Product Photography Across the West
Project Overview
This project was a multi-location series designed to capture Swift Industries’ bike bags in their natural element—out on rides and adventures across the American West. Over the course of three shoots in Northern Colorado (Red Feather Lakes), Colorado Springs, and Southern Utah, I documented Swift Ambassadors on real rides, blending bike product photography with lifestyle storytelling. The goal was to create imagery that worked as both authentic documentation and polished commercial photography for marketing campaigns.
Client Goals
Swift Industries wanted imagery that combined professional product photography with the authenticity of real-world use. Each shoot had its own focus:
Northern Colorado (Red Feather Ramble): Documenting the route while showcasing the bags in rugged, alpine terrain.
Colorado Springs: Highlighting ambassadors in an urban-meets-mountain setting to show the versatility of the gear.
Southern Utah: Capturing the bags against dramatic desert backdrops to emphasize durability and adventure.
Across all three, the client needed commercial photography assets that could serve multiple purposes—website features, social media campaigns, and broader brand storytelling—while elevating their ambassadors as the human connection to the gear.
Product Shoot Locations:
Each location shaped the imagery and narrative:
Northern Colorado — Red Feather Lakes: Expansive gravel roads, alpine forests, and high country lakes gave depth to the story of exploration. Photography here balanced sweeping landscapes with intimate rider portraits.
Colorado Springs: The foothills and city backdrop created contrast—showing Swift’s bags as equally at home in daily rides and big adventures.
Southern Utah: Stark desert landscapes and red rock canyons provided bold, high-contrast visuals, perfect for dynamic product photography that stands out in campaigns.
By situating the bags across such diverse environments, the imagery demonstrated the versatility of Swift’s gear while creating a cohesive storytelling arc across multiple shoots.
Process
I approached each shoot as both a documentary ride and a commercial photography project. This meant balancing wide, scenic shots that conveyed scale and freedom with detailed, product-focused photography that showed the bags in use. By riding alongside ambassadors, scouting vantage points, and capturing candid moments, I created imagery that feels immersive and authentic while meeting the client’s practical marketing needs.
